SAFE was founded in 2008 with the goal of rescuing animals from kill shelters when they are facing euthanasia. SAFE is always on the scene to rescue from hoarding situations, breeders gone bad, and community emergency situations.
To date, SAFE has rescued over 30,000 amazing pets who became homeless through no fault of their own.
Every rescue comes with a story and a heart, and each one desperately deserves a forever home and family.
SAFE has Adoption Centers in St. Augustine Beach, Treasure Beach, and Hollister.
The Sanctuary at Hollister is a safe, loving place where elderly and non-adoptable dogs can live out their lives in comfort. Make an appointment for a visit!

SAFE is a savior for pets whom other shelters will not take in – the sick, the terrified, the seniors – those considered less adoptable or with costly injuries.
SAFE is run entirely by donations.
