Saving Animals From Euthanasia

SAFE was founded in 2008 with the goal of rescuing animals from kill shelters when they are facing euthanasia. To date, SAFE has rescued over 28,000 wonderful, precious pets who, through no fault of their own, became homeless.  Each has a story, a heart, and feelings, and deserves a chance to have the home they want so desperately.

SAFE also takes pets that other shelters will not take-in – the sick, the terrified, the seniors – those considered less adoptable or with costly injuries. (Amara before and after pictures.)

SAFE is run entirely by donations. We cannot continue our lifesaving mission without your wonderful, kind, caring and generous support. To all who support the efforts of SAFE Pet Rescue, we thank you on behalf of all the pets whose lives have been saved and for those we have yet to save.

HOW SAFE BEGAN

The Story of Yellow Dog

Yellow Dog was dumped one hot summer day at a shelter in Florida. His name on the owner release was mutt. His reason for surrender – “don’t need him anymore”.

He was a boney, dull-coated fellow, his feet were deformed because his toenails had grown in circles, and he walked with a funny limp as his front leg had been broken. He was heartworm-positive, was blind in one eye, and he was terrified of humans. He was named Yellow Dog. His breed was Lab/Pitbull X. He was put into a kennel, from which he promptly escaped.

And so the story of Yellow Dog begins…
